Madame Tussaud’s could have been the proper title of Nathalie Sarraute’s novel, The planetarium (1959): there we find an explicit reference to the wax museum in London (located nearby the planetarium). This allusion leads us to criticize certain realistic conventions through the satirical portrait of a brilliant woman writer. However if the author chose a so paradoxically cosmic title to qualify her chattering and gossiping characters, we should be supposed to decipher these astronomic showings as a double and ambiguous allegory of the novel device itself and of the reading. So such a title draws our attention on the typical self-relativisation of the French New Novelists texts.
