Dramaturgie des voix dans The Great Disaster de Patrick Kermann

Patrick Kermann a écrit The Great Disaster en 1993. Patrick Kermann wrote The Great Disaster in 1993. It is the fable of Giovanni Pastore, an Italian emigrant forgotten in the holds of the Titanic. The voyage on the Titanic becomes a tangle of voices letting speak the missing persons who have never had the floor in the living world. The polyphony of the worldly voices and the poors’ voices from the steerage of the ship bring together in one space the exploited and the upper classes. Today, the stage directors reflect on the choral dramatic device where the voices bypass and feed off one another. Solange Oswald succeeded in giving a meaning to the path of these voices through a singular staging where the stage device is a morgue museum: the multiple voices are vectors of memories of those who do not accept to die. It is through the actors' voices and the spectator's listening that the voices of the missing persons of the Titanic continue to vibrate in an intimate and collective singing of the sea bottom.

Earth of Dark Names. Adventure and adventurers, narration and narrators in Stevenson and Conrad

The article intends to investigate the adventure of narration in the narration of adventure, through the analysis of the role of ambiguous names and voices in Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Master of Ballantrae and The Ebb-Tide, and Joseph Conrad’s short stories and Heart of Darkness. The shadows covering the names and voices of characters and narrators in these works, in fact, contribute both to the mystery of adventure and the mysteries of narration, veiling not only the identities of these characters but also their whole tales. Through a close readings of these works, we will see how these “impossible tales” on “doubtful” islands and lands whose names are also lost, so that the impossibility of telling tales becomes itself a tale.
