Simone de Beauvoir had endured many hardships until the year she began writing the Memoirs. At the age which "combines the retrospective and the prospective in the best way", feeling the need for a new stimulus, she chooses the return to the past which is fundamental to her. The image that the author demonstrates the nature of the "celebration" in the text: "ardent apotheosis of the present, in the face of the anxiety of the future" raises an idea to search for the driving force of youth which only the festive atmosphere created by the writing of the Memoirs could arouse. So, although the text has looked to the past, there will be a rejuvenation for the future. The article sets out to identify this mechanism by trying to clarify the dimensions of it.
